Tote bags are, I admit, an addiction for lots of us. As an artist I often store projects in bags so when I'm ready to work on something I can just grab the bag and have everything I will need to get right to work.
I have bags that are for different things - a bag for holiday gift projects, a bag to take to specific events because I can work on X there, a bag to take to Farmer's Markets, to the Library, you get the idea. This hit next level status when my twins were babies and I was homeschooling their 3 older siblings. We had so many events to attend - coops for different subjects, a park day once a week, doctor's offices, etc. Not to mention the giant diaper bag with dipes, wipes, and the multiple changes of clothes you don't really understand until you have a baby who has all sorts of creative ways to end up needing a change of clothes.
At that time I had a space near the front door where the bags were side by side. As we left the house I would just grab the bag(s) for where we were going. When we got home, I would return them and restock anything I knew we'd used (because the odds of me remembering before we ran out the door the next time were very slim).
A few weeks ago I started thinking about totes again - because
I wanted to do something with them to offer them for sale. There are so many things I could do with them - I have a Cricut after all! But I couldn't think of anything perfect, special, unique enough to label them "Adorned by Crystal."
I'd also been thinking hard about working on some tapestries - something I really enjoy doing. But, again, couldn't land on the perfect idea.
I thought about these things so hard, and for so long, that I guess they had a chance to float past each other closely enough to connect. And I got excited! Then I got to work.
When I say I love my job, it's not an exaggeration at all! Being able to make ideas into tangible pieces is an amazing experience. There will be a lot more totes to come.
