It’s not even that any one thing is too hard – I mean, some things are very difficult, especially if you don’t really know what you’re doing. It’s that, especially as a sole proprietor, it’s me. That’s it. I’m doing all the things, wearing all the hats, juggling all the plates–creating the art, running the website, in charge of marketing, going to the markets to vend, trying to develop stronger/new skills, learning how to run social media, creating custom orders, etc. It’s just a lot — and if I didn’t love what I do it would not be worth it.
Thankfully – I very much love what I’m doing!
Putting this here for some small amount of accountability for myself, but this summer my intention is to focus on the online stuff. It gets brutally hot here and I’m not going to be out in it as much as I was last year. I have some loose plans that I need to make a little more concrete soon, and might encounter new things as I go. The goal is basically this:
- Really understand my website. Not just how to do this or that, but how it’s structured, what it’s capable of, and am I maximizing its use.
- Learn more about social media marketing and make sure my website is fully integrated to make doing that as easy as possible.
Seems pretty simple – but I know there’s a lot to it. I want to start from the ground up and test the structure. I’m a little daunted, but also excited. I will try to share what I learn as I go in case anyone is trying to learn the same things.
